About us
Folklorama is the largest and longest-running multicultural festival of its kind in the world, as determined in 2010 by the International Council of Organizations of Folklore Festivals and Folk Arts. Folklorama began in 1970 as a celebration of Manitoba’s centennial, and has grown into an annual two-week festival of global culture that takes place the first two weeks in August. Over 40 volunteer-run pavilions participate each year, showcasing unique cultures in venues throughout Winnipeg. Pavilions feature lively entertainment, cultural displays, warm hospitality and authentic ethnic cuisine. The Folklorama Festival attracts over 400,000 visits every year and acts as a summer tourism anchor for city of Winnipeg and the province of Manitoba. Throughout the year, Folklorama is sustained by the Ethno-Cultural Arts programs: Folklorama at Home, Folklorama at School, and Folklorama at Work. Join us for Folklorama August 6 - 19, 2023

We’re thrilled to share that our 2023 ‘FOMO’rama Festival campaign has been honoured with the #TourismAwards Marketing Campaign Of the Year!🎉 If you weren’t at Folklorama August 6-19, 2023, then where were you? Last year, #Folklorama52 reached new heights with our first full Festival since the pandemic, featuring 40 Pavilions over 2 weeks and drawing a 5% increase in overall paid attendance. Our Group Tour program was nearly sold out, with just one single seat remaining, and oversaw logistics for 156 tours that engaged 5,586 guests with immersive experiences, entertainment, and the tastiest ethno-cultural dishes. Organic social media reached over 430,000 accounts across Facebook, TikTok and Instagram with the Pavilion highlight reel earning 136,000 views on Instagram and 30,000 on TikTok. Media mentions reached 305 million consumers and there were over 47,000 views of the digital Folklorama Travel Guide with 55,000 downloads. “FOMO”rama generated buzz, boosted attendance, and made for a Festival that you couldn’t afford to miss. Thank you to our incredible communities for bringing our mission of bringing people together by sharing ethno-cultural experiences and education to life!💜 Check this out🥰: https://lnkd.in/ez5qJ9DT Travel Manitoba Tourism Winnipeg

Tonight over 20,000 Muslims in Manitoba will begin observing Ramadan – a month of fasting and self-reflection – and we are proud to have Ramadan as our first #CelebrateEverything feature. Ramadan is the ninth month in the Islamic lunar calendar that has special significance for Muslims all over the world, including many Folklorama members of numerous ethno-cultural origins. It is a time of observance of faith through fasting and spiritual reflection. During this month, connection with family and community are cherished. The end of the month is marked by a celebration known as Eid Al Fitr, which lasts for 3 days. The richness of tradition is seen through cultural attire, customary foods and so much more that we look forward to sharing with you 💗 Find out how Folklorama member, Delvinder Kaur, observes this month: https://lnkd.in/gtvNt6YW Ramadan Mubarak!🌙
